PRIMARY PURPOSE: School Nurse / Clinic Aide Substitutes must implement comprehensive program of health services for assigned campus(es), provide health services to students, and promote health education and preventive health practices for students.  Substitute teachers must also complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day’s events. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School diploma

Valid registered nurse or vocational nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners preferred

Medical experience in lieu of RN / LVN licenses is acceptable

Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening preferred

CPR Certification preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health defects

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to implement policies and procedures

 

Experience:

Medical experience, preferably in community health or school organization

                                               

SALARY / WORK DAYS:    Substitute Teacher pay scale; work schedule dependent upon school nurse or clinic aide absences
