Primary Purpose:
Coordinate the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program. Oversee and provide high standards of instructional service. Ensure compliance with district policies, success of instructional programs, and operation of total program. Collaborate with campus administrators to ensure coordination of instruction between home campusesand the DAEP.

Experience:
Two years experience as a classroom teacher
Experience in leadership roles

Instructional Management

- Directs educational services to meet students’ needs.
- Collaborates with home campuses to ensure curricular and instructional alignment.
- Ensures that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis, and the findings are used to improve program effectiveness.
- Facilitates the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
- Serves as administrator of admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committees as needed.
- Attends in-take Meetings on the Campus.
Personnel Management
- Develops training options and/or improvement plans to ensure the best operation in the area of programs.
- Evaluates job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
Student Management
- Demonstrates support for student management policies and expected student behavior related to DAEP.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, and teachers concerning vital issues.
Management of Fiscal, Administrative, & Facilities Functions
- Directs and manages the DAEP and facilities to ensure a clean, orderly and safe campus.
- Implements the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy in the area of alternative education.
- Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required.

- Develops professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
- Uses information and insights provided through assessment instruments, the appraisal process, evaluative feedback from supervisors, and professional development programs to improve performance.

- Articulates the district’s mission and goals in the area of alternative education to the community to solicit its support in realizing the mission.
